RISE
by Yoav Erteschik & Liron Ben Yakov
Israel

RISE is a site-specific video dance filmed in the heart of the southern Negev Arava desert. Set against a landscape of elemental stillness and vast beauty, three dancers - Chen Agron, Rina Pinsky, and Kornelia Maria Tamara - embody themes of emergence, connection, and transformation. Directed and choreographed by Liron Ben Yakov, and co-directed and edited by Yoav Erteschik, the piece weaves movement, light, textures and desert silence into a cinematic experience, enhanced by the transcendent music of Shye Ben Tzur. RISE is a visual meditation on inner and outer landscapes - where the human body becomes a vessel for both ritual and renewal.
words from the filmmaker
This video dance was born from a deep connection to the desert - its silence, vastness, and timeless presence. Through movement, architecture, and the human body, we explored the scale between human presence and nature. The work celebrates a meeting of elements - body, landscape, and music - evoking the desert’s primal spirit, its tribal echoes, and feminine strength. It is both a visual and musical celebration of belonging and transformation.
why we love this film
Beautiful use of light & textures. Locations were stunning and so were the dancers.
